Course Overview

This course enables learners to build effective teams, generate innovative and enterprising solutions, and successfully present their ideas. The training is delivered through hands-on project work, allowing learners to apply their skills in a real-world environment.

The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Innovation and Enterprise in Practice aims to help learners:

  • Identify and assess innovative and enterprising solutions to challenges

  • Evaluate the qualities and skills required to develop and implement solutions

  • Form effective project teams, identifying roles, responsibilities, and timescales

  • Create and present an innovative and enterprising solution while critically evaluating their own performance and that of their team

No specific entry qualification is required other than the desire to join a group of student interested in innovation. 

The course is offered under Skill UP - The flexible skills fund provided you meet the following criteria:

(a)    over 18 years of age;

(b)   eligible to work in Northern Ireland;

(c)    ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or

(d)   is a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.  

The objectives of the OCN NI Level 2 Award in Innovation and Enterprise in Practice are to enable learners to:

  • identify and assess innovative and enterprising solutions to challenges
  • assess qualities and skills required to develop and implement innovative and enterprising solutions
  • form an effective project team identifying roles, responsibilities and timescales
  • create and present an innovative and enterprising solution and critically evaluate own performance and that of the team

Learners completing this course will have developed the skills and knowledge required to create and present projects. They will benefit from working collaboratively, making new contacts, and receiving support for their ideas. Successful participants may choose to progress to higher-level management courses, with the opportunity to bring their ideas to real-life implementation.
