Why Study This Course

Participants will develop practical front-of-house hospitality skills, including customer service, communication, food and beverage service, and barista and cocktail-making techniques. The programme also introduces foundational supervisory skills to support progression within the hospitality industry.

The Traineeship programme will allow participants to achieve a full Level 2 Diploma qualification and will comprise the following key elements: Course duration 1 year (This course will be completed over 15 to 21 hours per week dependent on student's Essential Skills requirement).

As part of their vocational learning, all participants will deliver an evening service in the SERC training restaurants, providing valuable real-world experience in a professional environment.

A significant element of the course is industry work experience, giving learners the opportunity to explore potential career pathways within the hospitality sector before committing to a specific role or progression route. This practical exposure supports informed career decision-making and enhances employability.

The traineeship is ideal for school leavers who have achieved their GCSEs and wish to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence required for a career in hospitality. In addition to technical training, the course aims to develop a range of transferable (transversal) skills that are essential for employment, including:

Course Overview

The Traineeship programme will allow participants to achieve a full Level 2 Diploma qualification and will comprise the following key elements:

· A Vocational Qualification & Skills Development

· Work Placement

· Transversal Skills

· Literacy and Numeracy qualifications at Level 2 (may include GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics)

You will need:

  • 4 GCSEs grade D-G, including grade E in Maths and grade E in English or equivalent

Applicants that have not obtained the above grades may be eligible to enrol upon a Traineeship programme dependent upon successful completion of literacy and / or numeracy pre-entry assessments as required. Please contact us for further information.
