SERC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gulu University (GU) in Northern Uganda. The MoU will allow the two organisations to work in partnership for five years to share knowledge and expertise and develop new opportunities for other collaborations.
The MoU was signed by Gulu University Deputy-Vice Chancellor Professor George Openjuru Ladaah and SERC Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb. The signing ceremony, held at the college’s SPACE Campus in Bangor was witnessed by college staff and was a unique opportunity to raise awareness of the partnership.

SERC and GU have entered a MoU to assist in taking forward areas of mutual interest. These activities will involve the exchange of staff, students and local community leaders, and research and teaching as a way to promoting co-operation and interaction between SERC and GU.
The new partnership has been formed as part of the Government of Uganda’s ‘Skilling Uganda’ strategic plan which is a consortium of organisations in Northern Uganda who are strategically placed to support the implementation of the strategy through SERC and GU with other associates namely Church of Uganda Gulu Diocesan and Fields of Life.
SERC Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb explains: “This exciting milestone recognises our continuing focus on sharing our expertise on a global scale. I have great pleasure in signing the Memorandum and look forward to the partnership developing over the years. Our international strategy is to seek opportunities through the development of sustainable global partnerships to develop lifelong learning opportunities for staff and students to meet economic and workforce needs, through raising skills and qualifications to address the needs of the local economy. The MOU with Gulu University will enable us to do just that.
“It is testimony to the growing reputation of SERC that we have been successful in securing this and other successful partnerships throughout the years.”
