South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is working with employers to offer young people the opportunity to complete work-based apprenticeships in a range of sectors including roles in the financial services industry.

Ryan Wiseman, Training Consultant at SERC said, “We are delighted to offer fully funded apprenticeships in Financial Services which give potential candidates the chance to complete a competence-based Level 2 apprenticeship, learning the fundamentals including customer service. The programme offers progression, or depending on experience, direct entry onto a Level 3 apprenticeship specialising in management or advisory pathways within the Banking, Insurance, Mortgages or Pension and Investment sectors.

He added, “This is a great opportunity to earn whilst you learn, gaining recognised qualifications which evidence candidates’ competence to work in the industry.   SERC has links with employers who are supportive of the apprenticeship route and are ready to offer positions.”

Julie Martin, Director and Financial Planner at JMF Advisory in Bangor, who currently have a vacancy said, “People often see ‘financial services’ as accountancy but there are many different disciplines. The wider industry offers access to a diverse range of management and advisory roles.   Training in these roles does take time but the apprenticeship route is a great opportunity to earn whilst you learn. Upon qualification there’s great potential with the average earnings in the sector well above NI average earnings, plus, of course, the potential to set up your own business.”
