SERC Health and Social Care Alumni Ciara McKissick and Amy Baxter recently gave a talk to current Health and Social Care students at the College’s Newtownards campus.

SERC Acting Deputy Head of School Nikki Rainey invited the former students to SERC to speak with Level 3 Health students. During their visit, the visitors shared their personal experiences of studying the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Studies), offering valuable motivation and advice to current students in preparation for their upcoming UCAS applications and exams taking place in January.

Ciara and Amy provided practical tips to the students and reflected on lessons learned while studying at SERC. They also reassured students that their Health and Social Care course has been extremely beneficial in their current university studies at Queen’s University Belfast and Ulster University, particularly in areas such as Research and Anatomy & Physiology for nursing and paramedic pathways. Both speakers went on to highlight how essential the support and guidance from tutors was for them while studying at SERC, encouraging students to listen to their tutors and make full use of the help available to them.

Nikki Rainey says, “The session was incredibly well received - students left feeling inspired, motivated, and eager to complete their course and pursue their chosen careers.”
