Walter Kelly, our associate lecturer in Public Services has had an invitation to a webinar from University of Cumbria which he thought some students from courses other than Public Services, might be interested.  The College has a good working relationship with the University and they have in the past sent over speakers who have given presentations to the Public Services students. In our industry expert talk, former District Crown Prosecutor Linda Vance, shares her experience of working on the case of Martin Smith, a paedophile and rapist, who attempted to hypnotise his victims before assaulting them, and the complex relationship he had with his wife Lianne Smith who murdered their two children.

In our Talk, Linda shares with us the challenges of making a conviction on rape cases, the importance of having an eye for detail and thorough preparation, as well as the moral obligation and emotional resilience lawyers must demonstrate when finding Justice for their victims.
