Nine (9) graduates earned a Level 2 qualification in Enterprise after completing the 16-week course, designed for local people returning to education who are ready to develop the skills and knowledge needed to start and run their own businesses.

The course, held one day a week and offered free of charge through support from the Department for Communities’ Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, enabled all participants to complete the programme with clear plans and a strong vision for their future. The BYOB programme adopts a holistic approach, supporting learners academic, social, and emotional needs- key components required in helping individuals’ success.

To enhance the experience, participants also benefited from a robust support network, including lunch vouchers, presentations from the Men’s Shed to build community connections, talks from local entrepreneurs, health and wellbeing seminars, and expert guidance on establishing a business.

The graduation ceremony featured a celebratory lunch for graduates, their families, and friends. Downpatrick Campus Manager, Paul Walsh delivered a congratulatory speech, recognising the students’ achievements and success at this important stage of their educational journey. He emphasised that SERC would always welcome them back and highlighted lifelong learning as a core value at the college.

Programme partners, including Clanrye, County Down Rural Community Network, and the Men’s Shed, also attended the graduation and are pictured above.
