SERC’s Entrepreneur Club had the unique opportunity to host their latest workshop at Catalyst Fintech Hub in Danske Bank, Belfast City Centre. Fintech hub is home to start up technological companies.
Following a tour, Laura Wilson, Catalyst Facilities Manager, explained the ethos and vision of the set up.
The students met Catalyst Entrepreneurs in Residence, James Scullion, owner of Rapid Marketing and Andrew McCracken, Co-Founder of Go Find Your Trainer (GoFYT) who shared their experiences, giving the students a true picture about the drive and passion required to manage a successful business.
The SERC Entrepreneur Club members pitched their business ideas and projects, gleaning advice from the experts.
Level 3 Business student Aimee Clint said, “Thanks to the Entrepreneur Club I had the chance to visit Catalyst Fintech Hub and network with like-minded, innovative individuals who have successful start-up businesses. Their inspiring stories have motivated all of us to continue working on our own businesses and projects.”
Ethan McCormick, Hannah-Louise Stewart, Robin Jones and Hannah Dunwoody from student company City4Life said, “Our team thoroughly enjoyed the tour around the Catalyst Fintech Hub. It was amazing to see a such a unique, friendly and relaxing working space that was very different to what you would image when you hear the word “office”. Learning more about Catalyst provided us with inspiration to one day be at the same level of all the entrepreneurs who work for this company.”
SERC Deputy Head of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Aurla McLoughlin said, “I would like to thank the staff at Catalyst for taking the time out of their busy schedule to motivate and inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs. Our Entrepreneur Club now has two new connections with external stakeholders which will be instrumental for students who are at the design stage of their companies.”
SERCs Entrepreneur Club gives students the skills and mindset to start real companies and it open to students across all campuses. If you have got an idea that you would like to take further?
