Level 2 Traineeship in Professional Chef students from SERC Downpatrick Campus got the year off to an exciting start when they got to support celebrity chef Anna Haugh, at the Tide and Turf Festival, in Portavogie recently.
Chef Lecturer Thomas Turley said, “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to work alongside Anna Haugh in this high-profile event. They gained valuable experience in food preparation and service outside the normal surroundings of a restaurant kitchen. The project-based learning activity involved the students assisting Anna with her food demonstrations and selling luxury seafood at the festival.”
Thomas added, “It was great to see the students shine on the day. They enjoyed the whole festival atmosphere and the chance to meet and work with Anna - she was a true professional who was really lovely to the students, encouraging them and interested to hear about their course and ambitions.”
