Equality at South Eastern Regional College

Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, we are required to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity between:

Persons of different religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status or sexual orientation
Men and women generally
Persons with or without a disability
Persons with or without dependants

In addition, we are also required to have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion and racial group.

In the College's Equality Scheme, we set out how we propose to fulfil our duties under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

We will commit to having in place the necessary resources in terms of people, time and money to ensure that the Section 75 statutory duties are complied with and that the Equality Scheme is implemented.

We commit to having effective internal arrangements in place to ensure there is effective compliance with the Section 75 statutory duties and for monitoring and reviewing our progress. Our Equality Scheme demonstrates our commitment to the promotion of equality of opportunity and good relations. It also offers the opportunity to people who perceive that we have not complied with our Equality Scheme to raise their concerns.

Disability Action Plan

The College also has a legal obligation under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 to provide a Disability Action Plan . We report on progress against these actions to the Equality Commission annually through the Annual Progress Report.

The College has achieved Level 2 accreditation under the Disability Confident Employer Scheme, demonstrating its commitment to creating an inclusive workplace for people with disabilities.

Campus Accessibility Guides

The College has partnered with AccessAble to develop comprehensive access guides for its campuses, enabling visitors, prospective students and staff to explore facilities online before their visit.

These guides are independently surveyed and reviewed annually to ensure the information remains accurate and up to date.
