Early Years

Early Years education focuses on the care and education of young children, typically from birth to around 8 years old. If you choose to study Early Years at South Eastern Regional College, you'll learn about child development, effective teaching methods, and creating supportive environments for young learners.

In the programme, you'll explore topics like child psychology, curriculum planning, and age-appropriate teaching strategies. You'll also gain practical experience working with young children through placements or hands-on activities.

Successful students in Early Years education often find opportunities in pre-schools, daycares, or as teaching assistants in primary schools. The skills you acquire will allow you to support the holistic development of children during their crucial early years. It's a rewarding field where you can make a positive impact on a child's learning and well-being during their formative years.

“I came to SERC because I wasn’t ready to make the big jump to university. The class sizes are small, so I felt less intimidated in the classroom and it was easy to get to know my classmates. ”
