Engineering

In Engineering at South Eastern Regional College, you'll learn the skills needed to design, produce or maintain products, or the processes used to manufacture these products. You will learn the basic principles behind electrical and/or mechanical systems, as well as gaining an understanding of how products and processes are designed and manufactured.

Dependent on the pathway chosen, you may explore topics such as machining, welding, or computer-aided design (CAD), build electronic circuits or program microprocessors and PLCs. You will gain hands-on experience in using machinery and tools commonly found in manufacturing environments.

You'll work on practical projects and laboratory exercises, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering problems. The curriculum emphasises problem-solving and project management skills, preparing you to tackle real-world engineering challenges. You'll also learn about safety regulations, environmental considerations, and ethical practices in engineering.

Successful engineering students can pursue careers in a variety of different organisations, including manufacturing and assembly of components and subassemblies for the automotive, aerospace and defence industries; manufacture of pharmaceutical packaging, plant machinery, consumer goods and food/drinks; precision engineering; polymer processing and equipment servicing to name a few. Whether you're interested in production management, quality assurance, maintenance or product design, an engineering programme at South Eastern Regional College provides a solid foundation for a rewarding career in a diverse and dynamic field.
