Welding Academy
Interested In A Career In Welding?
Lisburn and Castlereagh Labour Market Partnership is offering a Welding Academy. This will be delivered by SERC and has been designed specifically for residents of the Lisburn and Castlereagh area who are economically inactive, unemployed, under-employed, or at risk of redundancy.
- Training: A four week intensive course at SERC’s Professional Skills Centre, 17 Dundrod Road, Crumlin, BT29 4SR
- Week 1: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
- Weeks 2-4: Monday 9am-12pm; Thursday 9am-12pm; Friday 9am-3:30pm
- Career Guidance:Up to 2 hours personalised 1:1 sessions with an independent careers advisor.
- Support: Travel allowance provided for the duration of the training.
What You Will Learn
- Master MIG/MAG welding techniques to produce welds to TWI Code standard.
- Detect weld defects through visual checks and destructive testing methods.
What You Will Gain
- UK welding standard certification (British Standard 4872) in both BS4872 Fillet vertical up MAG and BS4872 Butt vertical up MAG. These certifications validate your ability to weld on sheet, plate, and pipe for mild steel. You will also gain an introduction to working with aluminium.
- Acquire the skills necessary for employment in MIG/MAG welding roles.
