Accounting Students Celebrate Course Completion

Accounting Technician students recently celebrated the completion of their Level 5 course at SERC.

The students hosted a ‘NI graduation’ in Belfast in May. Gowns, photographer and location were sourced for the students, and they met up outside Belfast City Hall, along with SERC HLA Co-ordinator Sandra Roleston and SERC ATI Lecturer Lawrence Purdy. Only two students had been able to attend the official Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) Conferring Ceremony earlier this year in The Helix, Dublin, so a more local venue was planned to make sure everyone had a chance to celebrate.

After the photographs were taken, the students and staff headed to AMPM for a lovely meal, with Sandra closing the evening with a short speech on the achievements of the ‘class of 2025’.

Sandra said, "A big thank you to one of the students, John Weir for all his co-ordination in making the event happen.

“All the students had worked exceptionally hard over the past two years, and it was a great way of recognising their overall success.

“Three of these students have now progressed further with their professional studies by undertaking to complete their chartered exams in order to become a fully qualified accountant. This shows the dedication and motivation of these students to pursue further with their accountancy career."

Sandra concluded, "I was delighted to be a part of their journey at SERC, and it was great to see their success acknowledged. This was a great achievement for the college, and I know each student is an asset to the accounting profession."
