A barbering student at South Eastern Regional College has been sharing his skills to raise vital funds for Friends of the Cancer Centre and awareness of male cancer.
Conaill McCreesh (21) from Downpatrick, who is completing a Level 2 Traineeship in Barbering at SERC’s Downpatrick Campus, was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was only nineteen. Conaill said, “I was lucky that my cancer was caught early. I had an operation and made a full recovery, though I do get checked every year.
“I was delighted that the fundraiser I organised through my course raised £200 for Friends of the Cancer Centre, plus I was able to chat to all the customers who came in that day about my experience. The take away message is to always watch out for signs of change and get yourself checked out if anything is different or if you have a concern, however slight.”
