Beauty Therapy students representing three SERC campuses met in Lisburn recently for the intercampus skills final in their subject. All the finalists had first tested their skills against others on the course in their own campus.

For the final, students had to perform a facial and a back, neck and shoulder massage, with their interaction with clients tested alongside their technical ability. There were vouchers as prizes for each of the three top scorers.

The competition was judged by Roseanne Doherty, head therapist and Espa trainer at the Slieve Donard Hotel. Summing up the event, Roseanne commented that she would feel confident in employing any of the contestants in the future.

The competition was close, but the overall winner was Caoimhe Kearney (aged 19, from Newcastle) studying at  SERC Downpatrick Campus, followed by Zara Crawford (18 and from Lurgan, studying at SERC Lisburn Campus) in second place. Runner-up was Sophie Thompson (25, from Donaghadee) a student at  SERC Bangor Campus.
