SERC’s Culinary Arts team will be spreading the simple joy of a bag of chips by the seaside at the Sea Bangor coastal festival this bank holiday weekend, 12 noon - 6pm, Saturday 23 - Sunday 24 May 2026.
A firm favourite in the local events calendar, Sea Bangor 2026 celebrates Bangor's strong connection to the sea, combining visiting vessels, on‑the‑water activity and city‑wide activities across the weekend.
Culinary Arts students will be hosting the ‘Chips Ahoy’ food truck where patrons can enjoy a bag of freshly prepared chips and then head over to our coffee stand where both Culinary Arts and Skills for Life and Work (SFLW) students will be serving up sweet treats, coffees and frappes.
Paul Mercer said, “The Sea Bangor Festival is firm favourite amongst our students and teaching team. It offers a tremendous experience for the students to work as part of a team in a fast-paced festival environment. There is nothing quite like a hungry crowd to keep you on your toes!
He continued, “This year our input will be even more important, as our participation involves a profit share with Bangor Food Hub and Community Support (BFHCS). After food costs, half of any profit we make over the weekend will go straight to BFHCS – it is part of our ongoing commitment to collaborating with them to support people experiencing real need in our community. We are hoping everyone will support the students for this worthwhile venture at Sea Bangor.”
SERC Chef Lecturers, Brian Magill, Thomas McCluney and Friedrich Machala will be taking to the stage to deliver a series of cookery demonstrations with local professional chefs over the weekend so be sure to drop by for top culinary tips.
