SERC's Students' Union got the year off with some fun at the college's annual Freshers’ Fairs.
New and returning students, had the opportunity to meet the Students’ Union team and discover the full range of student support services available in SERC as well as engaging with over 40 organisations, charities, local suppliers and businesses including:
Army Reserve, Autism Initiatives, Cancer Focus, Cara Friend, Danske Bank, Everlast, Exchange Accountants, Fly Boy Pizza, Good News For Everyone, Habitat for Humanity, Lena, Libraries NI, Women’s Aid, NUS-USI, PIPS, Pizza Co., Positive Life, Progressive Building Society, Public Health Authority, Queen’s Film Theatre (LUMI), Rainbow Project, Royal Air Force, Samaritans, SET Carers Support Service, Simon Community, Specsavers, The Rainbow Project, Volunteer Now, Woodland Trust, and Youth Initiatives.
Ross Currie, Student Engagement Manager at SERC said, “We were thrilled with the turnout of more than 2700 students attending our annual Freshers’ Fairs across SERC’s four main campuses at Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards.
“The fairs form just one of the highlights that kickstart the academic year, and it is great to see so many students make connections, access support and explore activities they can get involved with throughout the year."
Ross concluded, “Our Freshers’ Fairs would not be a success without the input of the many organisations who support us with their presence. We would like to thank everyone who came along to each of our campuses to engage with our students - many offering giveaways, draws and competitions, which added to the excitement - whilst sharing information about their organisation.”
