SERC is delighted to announce that two outstanding nominees have been shortlisted for the prestigious Pearson Silver Teaching Awards 2026.

Stephen McGreevy, Lecturer and Lead Business Skills Manager, has been named a finalist in the Lecturer of the Year category. Stephen is widely recognised for his leadership in sustainability education across Northern Ireland. His pioneering work includes the development of unique Level 5 OCN NI qualifications in retrofit coordination and green technology—the first of their kind in Northern Ireland and among the first in the UK. He also led the creation of a state-of-the-art retrofit training facility, equipping students with essential skills for a Net Zero future and supporting industry’s transition to sustainable practices.

SERC is also proud to celebrate the Culinary Arts Team, shortlisted for Team of the Year. The team has built a strong legacy of embedding food poverty and social inclusion initiatives within the curriculum. Through innovative project-based learning, students collaborate with local food banks and community groups, preparing meals, leading demonstrations, and delivering large-scale support events. Their work not only strengthens community resilience but also enhances students’ professional skills, sustainability awareness, and social responsibility.

Silver Award winners will be announced on 17 June 2026, as part of national Thank a Teacher Day. All Silver winners will then progress to the final stage for consideration for a Pearson Gold Teaching Award.
