Kind hearted students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) spread some Christmas cheer when they delivered Christmas gifts to residents of The Peninsula, a Dunluce Healthcare Group care home in Newtownards.
The students from Level 1 Health and Social Care (Skills for Life) planned, made and collected items for sensory, reminiscence and personal boxes which they delivered to the care home.
Lecturer, Susan Annett said, “The students really enjoyed donating these boxes as part of their course and we were delighted to see how much happiness this brought to the residents at the home. It was a real treat to go along to The Peninsula care home to deliver the gifts and spend a little time chatting to the residents and joining them for games of ten pin bowling and Play Your Cards Right. Michael Greig from Clanrye Group did a great job at taking on the role of Bruce Forsythe for the day!”
Susan added, “We have been working with Dunluce Healthcare Group for several years now and we really value their partnership. Both The Peninsula in Newtownards and Oakmont in Bangor continually support our Level 2 and Level 3 students with work placements, and several of their staff have upskilled on the Level 5 Higher-Level Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care with SERC.”
