eFIXX is a leading multi-channel media platform for professionals working in the electrical industry. They create actionable content to help their audience be more effective in their jobs. At present, they have over two thousand videos and over one billion views on YouTube.

Last week, members of the eFIXX team, alongside several of their industry collaborators, visited SERC as part of a college tour to give masterclasses to Level 3 Electrical Apprentices from Lisburn campus, as well as to Level 2 Electrical Trainees who travelled from Downpatrick and Newtownards campuses for the event. The masterclasses covered topics such as safe isolation, circuit protection, lighting and electrical innovation, all relevant information in broadening an aspiring electrician’s knowledge and skills. The expert speakers included Gary Hayers, co-founder and editor of eFIXX, Paul Smithies from awarding body EAL, John Ford from Robus Lighting and Paul Appleby from Fusebox.

SERC students also had the opportunity to take away prizes such as cable reels (kindly provided by Crompton Controls) for those that completed CPD units, as well as merchandise from manufacturers including t-shirts, hats, head torches and safe isolation kits. The day ended with closing remarks from Gary Hayers, as well as a Q&A session where SERC students got to ask all the industry experts taking part in the tour any questions they might have about the electrical industry and their journeys within it.

SERC Lecturer in Electrical Installation Jonathan Thompson comments, “It was a privilege to have Gary and the rest of the eFIXX team, along with EAL, Robus Lighting and Fusebox, visit us in SERC Lisburn campus. The students were totally engaged and involved in the day and there was a great buzz around every masterclass from the industry experts. Feedback from the students has been amazing, the day went so well, and we greatly appreciate eFIXX’s continued support in helping our students become the best they can be.”
