“Before attending SERC, I studied at Glenlola Collegiate School, where I achieved 10 GCSEs. I have always enjoyed education and learning, but I knew the school learning environment wasn't for me. After conducting personal research online, attending an open day and talking with tutors, I decided to make the move to SERC. I first attended SERC in September 2021. I spent 2 years studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services. While on that course, I soon discovered my passion lay within the sports-based modules I was studying. This is what led me to changing my focus solely to sport, and why I decided to move on to my current Sports Foundation Degree, which I am now in my second year of.”
“I have been granted the opportunity to partake in a practical and nurturing learning environment, surrounded by tutors who are willing to adapt to individual learning needs and who want to see you succeed. I have been able to enhance interpersonal skills and develop abilities and qualities that will benefit me throughout my future."
“I have completed numerous modules, which cover topics such as anatomy and physiology, the professional fitness environment, strength and conditioning, sport and society, and different sports research methods. I have found these modules to be equally engaging and beneficial. With a good balance of practicality, research and learning, I feel as though the course topics have well prepared me, not only for my next steps onto university, but also for the line of work I wish to enter - personal training.”
“Once I complete this year of my course at SERC, I hope to finish my degree at Ulster University and progress into my desired career path as a personal trainer. I also wish to acquire more fitness related qualifications to help support my Level 2 Gym Instructing and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications. These are qualifications I was lucky enough to be able to complete alongside my core studies at SERC, thanks to the advice and support from knowledgeable tutors who were able to steer me in the right direction to be successful in all my studies.”
“I would highly encourage anyone considering coming to SERC to go for it! Studying at SERC brings a sense of individuality to being a student. Tutors not only want you to excel academically but also strive to help you develop on a personal level and take time to understand the unique attributes of each student. By choosing a course you will be surrounded by people with similar interests, contributing to the welcoming environment and making the overall experience more enjoyable.”
