Study at SERC
We welcome international students to a supportive and inclusive learning environment where high-quality teaching, modern facilities and dedicated support help every student succeed academically and personally.
SERC campuses are located in Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, with excellent transport connections. Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport offer regular flights to major UK and European cities, making it easy for international students to travel to and from Northern Ireland.
Our International Team provides guidance from initial enquiry through to enrolment, helping ensure a smooth transition to studying and living in Northern Ireland.
We offer programmes across Further and Higher Education, with clear progression pathways to further study, university and employment.
Tuition Fees for International Students
Level 3 programmes: £6,150 per year
Level 4 and Higher Education including Foundation and Full Degree programmes: £8,250 per year
Your fee status is determined during the application process.
Applicants who are not eligible for Home fee status will be classified as an international student and will pay the international tuition fees.
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements vary depending on the programme level and subject area. Applicants will normally need:
- A qualification equivalent to the required UK level for the programme.
- Evidence of English language proficiency, such as IELTS or an equivalent qualification.
- A successful interview where required.
- To apply for a Student visa, you must show that you have enough money to support yourself.
- £1,023 per month for living costs, for up to 9 months.
- Your first year's tuition fees, or full fees if your course is under 1 year.
- Funds held for 28 consecutive days.
- Bank statements no more than 31 days old on the date of your visa application.
- If using parents' bank accounts, parental consent and proof of relationship.
If you are applying from inside the UK, UKVI requires that your new course represents academic progression from your previous studies. SERC can only issue a CAS if this requirement is met.

International Admissions
We aim to make the admissions process as clear and straightforward as possible. From your initial enquiry through to your first day at College, our Team will guide you every step of the way and are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
1. Enquiry
Speak to our team to explore your options and ask any questions about studying at SERC.
2. Complete Online Application
Submit your application with the required information and supporting documents.
3. Interview
Online interview where required to discuss your course choice and suitability.
4. Conditional Offer
If successful, you will receive a conditional offer outlining the next steps.
5. Tuition Fees Payment
Pay the required tuition fees to progress your application.
6. Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Once all conditions are met, SERC can issue your CAS for visa purposes.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by 30 May to be considered for entry the following September.
English Language Requirements
All teaching at SERC is carried out in English and tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in English to cope with your course from the start. Therefore, all non-native English-speaking applicants who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English must satisfy one of the following requirements:
- Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level B2.
- IELTS 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills.
- PTE 51.
- Or an equivalent qualification, such as GCSE English, Essential Skills in Literacy Level 2, ESOL Level 2 or another recognised UK-based qualification.
If you need to improve your English before starting your studies, SERC offers dedicated English Language programmes designed to develop your academic communication skills and prepare you for successful study in the UK.
SERC is also an official British Council IELTS Test Centre, offering convenient computer-delivered tests to support your application journey.
In addition to IELTS, SERC hosts a range of internationally recognised examinations, including SAT and GED, which can support progression to university and further study opportunities worldwide.

TVET Studies
TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) programmes at SERC provide practical, career-focused learning at Levels 2 and 3 across a wide range of vocational subject areas, with clear progression pathways to higher education or employment.
Higher Education Study Options
SERC offers a wide range of Higher Education programmes, including Degrees, Foundation Degrees, Higher Nationals and Higher-Level Apprenticeships across more than twenty subject areas such as Business, Computing, Engineering, Hospitality, Health and Social Sciences. Our industry-informed courses are designed to enhance graduate employability.
