Hairdressing Students Welcome Industry Experts

Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing students at SERC are set to welcome industry experts Simon Shaw from Wahl, Julian Dalrymple from The Hub by the Sittingroom and Julie Cherry from Shane Bennett Salon for a series of virtual visits.

Martha Craig Deputy Head of School of Performing and Creative Arts at SERC said, “This year has been challenging, but the opportunity to have talks and virtual visits from industry experts has been one major positive. Following a successful session from Mike Taylor from Great British Barbering Academy, we are delighted to welcome three more top names in the industry. These visits help our students’ knowledge and understanding of the industry through the amazing insight they will receive from these top names, and perhaps the visits will inspire them in their future careers.

Speaking about the special guest visitors Martha said, “Simon Shaw will be delivering the ‘Team Talk Live with Wahl’, on Monday 8 March at 3pm and that session is open to Level 2 and 3 students in the Bangor and Lisburn campuses. The session aims to share some knowledge, raise a smile and help participants feel united together.

“Level 3 students in Bangor, Lisburn and Downpatrick will welcome Julian Dalrymple on Wednesday 10 March at 11am. Julian, a multi-award-winning hairdresser, including the 2016 BHA Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year. Julian has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and has presented her work on some of the largest hairdressing stages across the world.

“Our Level 2 students across our Bangor, Lisburn and Downpatrick campuses will be joined by Julie Cherry on Thursday 11 March. Julie, rom Lisburn, is the manager and creative director in the Shane Bennett Salon. She has travelled the world as a global ambassador for Goldwell where she demonstrates her skills in all aspects of styling hair. Julie is currently the Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year and this year joined the Hairdressing Hall of Fame.”
