International Day of Persons with Disabilities takes place on 3 December each year to promote the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of people with disabilities, as well as to increase awareness of their challenges.

Not all disabilities are immediately apparent, such as mental illness, chronic pain, fatigue, sight or hearing impairments, diabetes, brain injuries, neurological disorders, learning differences and cognitive dysfunctions.

SERC has renewed their certificate for Level 2 of the Disability Confident Committed Scheme. To find out more about the Scheme, click here. As a Disability Confident employer, SERC is committed to:

  • Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required
  • Supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition

Support is available in the college:

  • SERC has a contract with AccessAble, which gives accessibility information to help individuals identify accessibility within all SERC campuses, to find out more, click here
