Enterprise Showcase Final awaits for entrepreneurial students

Students from across the SERC Campuses had been working tirelessly on innovative projects for this inter-campus competition throughout September. Teams were formed by a combination of those who are either dominantly right or left brained characteristically, thanks to the new College Whole Brain Learning app, Ingenio.

The event will be streamed live on the SERC intranet and the winning team will receive a tablet for each member, while the other finalists will receive a £10 cash voucher which can be used in most high street shops.  

The teams who have progressed to the Enterprise Showcase Final have now been selected. The Enterprise Showcase Final will be held on Thursday 28th September at 1:30pm at the SPACE Campus, Bangor and the following talented groups of students will be present at the event: FEC (Photography, Art, Engineering) W.A.S.T.E. (Bio-Science) X-MEX (Catering) SERCAFE (Computing) Crazy Kid’s Planter (Joinery) Underpants Rule (Health & Care)  

Teams will have a maximum of 10 minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of judges, including representatives from ETI, Translink and North Down and Ards Borough Council, using mediums that they are most comfortable with such as PowerPoint, flip charts or a practical demonstration for example.

SERC Director of Curriculum, Michael Malone said, “This event helps students bond as a group and form solid and important friendships. The enthusiasm shown by the students has been heart-warming, while the innovation displayed is inspiring.”

Michael added, “I wish the students participating in the final the very best of luck.” The winning team will best demonstrate how their idea is innovative, creative and the elements of teamwork that were incorporated throughout the project. The viability of the business idea will also be taken into consideration.
