Ruta Andriulionyte (46) from Castlewellan first came to SERC when she signed up to an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course before progressing to the Level 2 in Beauty Therapy.
Having worked in hospitality for the past 15 years, Ruta, originally from Latvia, wanted to get back to her first passion, skincare. She says, “When I lived in Latvia, I worked in a pharmacy and was involved in all aspects of skincare, haircare, and supplements. I had completed a lot of training on skincare so when I looked at the beauty therapy course, it seemed like an extension to what I had completed in the past and was something that I was interested in learning about.”
Ruta added, “It’s been great coming back to learn and I didn’t mind being a mature student. It’s never too late to learn something new. It is a great course for anyone interested in learning about all round beauty therapy. I have most enjoyed doing the treatments and the practical aspects of the course. The facilities are great.”
“The lecturers have given me great moral support to finish the course and I do hope to come back and progress to the Level 3, as I would like to work in the industry.”
