Nine graduates achieved a Level 2 qualification in Enterprise after the 16-week course, which is aimed at local people who have been out of education for some time and who are ready to develop skills and knowledge to start up and run their own business.

The course ran one day a week and was free, supported by the Department for Communities’ Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. All graduates finished the programme with clear plans and a vision for the way ahead.

The graduation ceremony included a celebratory lunch for graduates and their family and friends. Downpatrick Campus Manager, Paul Walsh, gave a short speech, congratulating the students on their achievements and their success in this stage of their education journey. He stressed that they would be very welcome at SERC any time they were ready to continue and that lifelong learning is a concept at the heart of the college.
