Deputy Secretary of Education of the Federal District of Brazil, Iedes Soares Braga, along with Director of Bridges to the World Programme for Brazil, David Nogueira da Silva, were welcomed onto campus by SERC Deputy Chief Executive, Colin McGuckin, SERC Curriculum Manager, Scott Nicholson and SERC Senior International Development Manager, Elaine McKeown.
The Brazilian visitors were accompanied by Ayesha Williams, Director of Collaboration & Partnerships, Education Together UK (ETUK) – an alliance of public colleges in Wales, England and Scotland that aims to support projects and programmes in Latin America and Caribbean. The project discussed at the meeting supports over 100 Brazilian students for short-term study at colleges across the UK, in which the students participate in an immersive academic programme and live with local homestay families enriching their cultural experience. The college had previously participated in the project, with a successful cohort of Brazilian students graduating in 2025.
Elaine McKeown, SERC Senior International Development Manager said, “Our collaboration with ETUK and Brazil is central to SERC’s international development strategy and we are pleased to be considered as part of such an important, life-changing project for the students.”
