Science and Engineering Students Encouraged to Apply for £3,000 James Kane Foundation STEM Scholarship

Science and Engineering students encouraged to apply for scholarship.

SERC is encouraging eligible Science and Engineering students to apply for the James Kane Foundation STEM Student Scholarship, which offers financial support of £3,000 to help students continue their educational journey.

Now entering its second year, the scholarship has been established to support talented students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects who may face financial or personal barriers to progressing in education.

The scholarship is open to students currently enrolled on a Further Education or Higher Education Science or Engineering programme at SERC and completing one of the following qualifications:

- Level 2 Traineeship in a Science or Engineering subject
- Level 3 BTEC or Diploma in a Science or Engineering subject
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) Level 4 in a Science or Engineering subject
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Foundation Degree Level 5 in a Science or Engineering subject.

    The successful applicant will receive a scholarship award of £3,000 for one academic year, helping to ease financial pressures and support their studies and future career ambitions.

    To be eligible, students must meet at least one of the following criteria:
    - Parent or parents are in receipt of Universal Credit
    - Live in social housing (NIHE or Housing Association tenancy) or within a recognised social housing area
    - Live in a single-parent household
    - Have a combined household income of less than £38,806 per annum
    - Do not live with, or receive support from, a parent or guardian.

    Emmy Finney, Head of Business Engagement said, "The James Kane Foundation STEM Scholarship provides valuable support to students who have the ability and ambition to succeed in science and engineering, but may face financial challenges along the way. We encourage all eligible students to explore this opportunity and submit an application."
