SERC Pearson BTEC HNC in Film & Television Production student, Lewis Watson McCready (21) from Belfast is on the pathway to his goal of studying at university through completing his course at SERC.

Lewis completed his A-Levels at St Joseph's College in Belfast before enrolling at SERC. He chose to study at SERC, after a family friend who previously completed a film course at the College recommended the College to him.

On his course, Lewis says, “I love how down to earth, helpful and professional the tutors are. The course covers a lot of different areas of film, including pre-production elements such as storyboarding, production elements including how to use cameras, and post-production elements like editing. I’ve been using these modules to help me with the short films we have to create as part of the course, and it’s been an eye-opening learning process.”

On what he wants to do after his course, Lewis comments, “I hope to do the HND in Film & TV Production at SERC after my current HNC course. Eventually I’d like to go to Ulster University to study Film Production, so the path I’m on now is a good way to get there.”

Lewis concludes, “I would recommend SERC to anyone who wants to continue with their studies after GCSE’s or A-Levels. I came here not knowing what I wanted to do, but after studying here I now have a great idea as to what my next steps are. If you are thinking about studying on the HNC in Film & Television Production course, I would say that you most definitely should, due to how much knowledge I have gained in the past year I’ve been at SERC, and the lifelong friends I’ve made along the way.”
