Six SERC staff have recently completed the CMI Level 3 Aspiring Managers Programme (AMP), facilitated by the SERC Learning Academy.

The AMP is designed to bridge the gap between a staff members current role and a management role, as well as fulfil a business need to develop Managers. It has been designed to empower staff to develop the skills and confidence to progress into leadership and become the best leader they can be.

Several SERC staff have recently completed the programme, including John McLaverty, Kerri Martin, Chris Kernaghan, Abbie King, Siobhan Blaney, and Ruairi Donaldson. As part of the programme, staff had to create a project in groups. The groups then gave a presentation on their projects to members of CMT, who helped judge the projects, at the end of the programme.

On her experience on the course, SERC Student Support Officer Siobhan Blaney comments, “I really enjoyed the overall experience of completing the CMI Level 3 Aspiring Managers Programme. The course gave me a solid understanding of key leadership and management principles and enabled me to reflect on my own personal and professional development.  I enjoyed group discussions, and learning about team characteristics along with the different leadership styles and how to support and motivate teams effectively.  As a result of completing this course I now feel more confident and equipped to take on leadership roles in the future.  I’d like to thank my tutors, Suzi Donnelly, Diane Weatherup and the entire course team for their support, encouragement and guidance throughout the programme.”
