Stop Smoking and Vaping Month

In October, smokers are encouraged to stop smoking. Smoking causes one third of all cancers in Northern Ireland and is the greatest cause of death and disease. It not only increases the risk of cancer for the smoker but for those around them too.
Cancer Focus offers a stop smoking/vaping service which is funded by the Public Health Agency. The service helps smokers to quit by providing behavioural support and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). This allows the smoker easy access to a range of support methods in one place, helping smokers to create a personal plan for success and look at coping with cravings, managing stress, avoiding weight gain and developing a healthy lifestyle.
One Stop Smoking support service consistently has a quit success rate of 68% in four weeks. Studies have shown that you are four times more likely to quit with help. Local Stop Smoking services, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and support from your family and friends can make all the difference when you are quitting, so make sure you are familiar with all the help available.
For help and support get in contact with Cancer Focus by filling in the online form, or telephone 02890 663281.
