SERC green technology students are set for real learning on the latest equipment thanks to support from Lisburn-based heating company Warmflow.
Warmflow has supplied the college with an Agentis oil boiler set up to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). One of the first fully-operational HVO boilers running in Northern Ireland, it marks a milestone in low-carbon heating solutions. The boiler has been supplied to SERC’s Professional Skills Centre at Nutts Corner, a dedicated training facility specialising in areas such as plumbing and heating.
The Warmflow Agentis Boiler house model will be used by students for hands-on training in renewable-ready heating technology. The innovative boilers are designed to run on both kerosene and 100% HVO fuel, a sustainable, low-carbon alternative, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional kerosene.
Stephen McGreevy, Lead Business Skills Manager at SERC, said, "Thanks to Warmflow, SERC students are now able to gain real-world experience with cutting-edge renewable heating systems, preparing them for a greener future in plumbing and heating. The collaboration with Warmflow and the installation of the Agentis allows us to enhance our course offering, supporting contractors and installers to progress through qualifications to develop de-carbonisation skills. Short, intensive courses will allow professionals to upskill in bio-oil alternatives to current fuel usage.”
